This newsletter will be shorter than usual. We have been running wild and growing rapidly. We are constantly amazed at what God is doing through us. We are starting to make an expansion move with Life Talk Radio and possibly Message Magazine as well. The future is looking good.

While shopping with my bride I slipped and fell, ended up in the hospital for a heart pacer implant. I am fine and the battery is good for fifteen years. We are so glad that we have had this blessing but I must admit I was a bit scared when I fell.

During the confusion I lost a deposit and the checks were stamped. If your check did not clear last month, it is lost. Iím sorry for the inconvenience.

God willing, I will live a long time and the ministry with us. We never expected the Pen Friend Program to grow so big. I really believe if everyone joined us the second coming will be sooner. Many of you did not send back a form giving your pen name, your inmate or we could not read the inmates writing. We may have a stack of mail looking for you.

With prices going up, we need a massive amount of ď$5.00 a monthĒ donors and for those that can afford it a bit more. If all of you could donate $5.00 a month now, that would continue to jump start a couple of large donations. No matter what happens to me this ministry will grow. Amen!

We want to thank you all for your prayers. They are greatly appreciated. We want you to know that we pray for our Pen Friends and supporters daily. Without you there would not be a Someone Cares Prison Ministry. God is blessing this ministry and also blessing our family members who have been willing to step up and help, which really means a lot.

We would like each of you to take the challenge of writing to a inmate as a personal ministry of your own. You will never know how many lives you touch or how many lives God will change because you took the time to write. May God Bless each of you! Remember this is risk free. You never give your address. Our new address is PO Box 25628, Fort Wayne Indiana 46825. You have our phone number. We would like yours too, please.

To help with fund raising we are putting together both DVDs and a book about our forty years of ministering to inmates. Please share with us both good and bad experiences of your personal ministry. Through us, remember that this all started on the cross. Jesus saved one lost soul to open the door for Someone Cares. Thatís you!

The following article is reprinted from our September, 2008 newsletter.
It is amazing how far God has taken us over the years.

Doing any amount of time is Hard Time. The Prison system is set up for 6 levels. Level one, low custody, to level Six, maximum custody.

We do not restrict who can be a part of this Ministry. We do weed out and keep out known trouble makers or those who request female companionship. That does not mean that those that request a Pen Friend do not try to get more than friendly with a female. Most level 5 and 6 inmates are locked down 23/7.

We also have found hardcore inmates come to God easier than those that can count weeks to the street. With the idea that long sentences will cut down on crime many serve rebellious sentences. Thus their time is hard - very hard. Asking you to enter this system can be hard on you as nothing in your life can compare with this. But! We have watched with amazement the job some of you have done. Holy Boldness has directed the conversion of many an inmate.

Serving double life and a gang leader, Jim wrote us.

I am writing this out on the yard on a sunny day in California. I have in front of me a letter I received from a family about a year ago. I joined your organization as I had many others as a scam to get money. Instead I found out what real caring people there are in the world. I have been stabbed many times. I am serving a forty year sentence, and had I not met the Verbalís, I would have pulled every day of that. Through them and your newsletters I do see a light at the end of a tunnel and Jesus is there with arms out-stretched. I left the gang and am still alive - a Miracle. I only make $22.00 a month but am going to send you guys $2.00. Your Ministry shows
    Someone Cares.
